Core-Safe Lift Shaft Gates on-site for StoreX Greenwich
StoreX Greenwich forms part of the wider regeneration of the Boord Street site on the Greenwich Peninsula, delivering a new multistorey self-storage facility alongside flexible workspace as the first phase of a larger mixed-use development.
The project requires effective safety measures to support construction across multiple storeys while maintaining efficient on-site progress. The high rise design presents a number of construction challenges, making effective edge protection and controlled access systems an important consideration throughout the construction programme.
With two lift shafts projecting through the building, maintaining safe, controlled access around lift openings was a key consideration from the early stages of construction. Easi-Edge supplied Aztec Construction with 24no. Core-Safe Lift Shaft Gates alongside edge protection barriers, to form part of a wider site safety package for the project.
The Core-Safe lift shaft gates provide continuous protection while allowing authorised access using a secure coded system, maintaining collective edge protection around the lift openings as different trades continue to work across multiple levels of the building.
As construction continues on-site, the Core-Safe lift shaft gates provide consistent and compliant protection around lift shaft openings while maintaining controlled access for authorised personnel.
The reusable steel lift shaft gates are tested to Class A of BS EN 13374 and accommodate openings from 890mm to 2690mm, making them suitable for a wide range of lift shaft configurations.
