Edge Protection - Cranswick plc

Cranswick, one of the UK’s leading fresh food producers, has begun construction of a new £60 million poultry facility in Eye, Suffolk. The construction project is the largest investment undertaken by Cranswick. JH Vaudrey and Son were the main contractor for the project and Easi-Edge provided 550 LM of edge protection for the project.

The new poultry facility has an innovative design and architecture that is being managed by Trundley Design Services. To benefit the local community, as well as awarding a contract to JH Vaudrey and Son, other contracts went to local steelwork suppliers and a local roofing company. The site will have over 1,000 tonnes of structural steelwork and 80,000 tonnes of earth will be excavated to landscape the area.

Following Cranswick’s purchase of Crown Chicken, the company has spent the last two years developing and growing the business. The new facility in Suffolk is part of a new phase of growth for the company. Additional investment in farming and feed infrastructure in the area will take the total investment in the project to an estimated £70 million.

The new facility near Eye in Suffolk will be the most efficient poultry processing site in the whole of the UK and Europe. It will employ 700 people with approximately 300 new jobs being created in the area.
