Burnley Hospital is being redeveloped and the latest project, phase 8, will replace existing units with high quality facilities as well as a new outpatient blood room.

The £15.6 million development will not only provide modern facilities for existing services, but it will also deliver significant improvement to the environment for patients. The ground floor Outpatient Department will combine three separate departments into one location. Twenty surgical and medicinal clinics will be available in 21 consulting rooms. There will also be a dedicated blood room which is an important facility that was not previously available at the hospital.

This development is part of a long term plan by the local Trust which began in 2003 to deliver integrated and high quality treatment and care for the people of East Lancashire. The bespoke building will also feature a new maxillo-facial unit. There are also plans to house a unit on the ground floor that will consist of a laboratory, four consulting rooms and a minor procedures theatre to support the potential for developing a One Stop clinic in the future.

As part of the redevelopment of the buildings, Easi-Edge will supply 710 LM of edge protection across three floors. Phase 8 of the Burnley Hospital plan will also include a new Ophthalmology Centre on the first floor. It will feature two theatres, eight clinic rooms, a laser room, day unit and CT room.

The main contractor, Vinci Construction, has been working closely with Leach Steel and Easi Edge to deliver this exciting new phase of the hospital on time.
