Boho X is a new six storey development from The Digital City, and it is jointly funded by Middlesbrough Council and the Tees Valley Combined Authority. This new building will see the expansion of the Middlesbrough Digital Quarter, locally known as Boho.

Middlesbrough Council appointed Galliford Try to deliver the project and during construction, Easi-Edge were asked to provide 1150LM of edge protection barriers. The Boho X building will provide over 60,000 square feet of office accommodation. It will also include a café, bar and events space, lecture theatre and gym. It is being designed with digital and creative companies in mind, and the goal of Digital City is that Boho X will be the destination for emerging and expanding digital companies.

Galliford Try, the main contractor, set themselves an ambitious target of spending 80% of the costs within the local supply chain. In addition to creating local employment opportunities with this project, they wanted to engage with nearby schools, colleges and community groups to make them aware of the opportunities within the construction industry.

Boho X has already attracted the interest of a global leading business who want to have their headquarters in the building. This will be a huge boost for Middlesbrough and it will demonstrate to young people in the area that Tees Valley is a thriving region and that they don’t need to move away to build a career. The full occupancy of Boho X will boost jobs in the town centre and mean more people are supporting other local businesses.

Boho X is an important project that will help to transform the area and help to reinvigorate the region. It is one piece of a wider masterplan to transform the heart of Middlesbrough.
