Edge Protection, Abbey House

Abbey House, in Coventry, is a new 7 storey student accommodation building with 115 bedrooms being built by MJ Robinson. The brand new building is located on Manor Road making it conveniently located for the train station and within walking distance of the University campus. It will offer students luxury accommodation and will comprise of 60 student apartments, 11 cluster flats containing 55 bedrooms which equates to 115 student beds in total.

The building is being constructed with sustainability in mind as many of the materials excavated on the site were reused. This enabled MJ Robinson to divert 100% of all site waste away from landfill. During construction the local community were kept appraised of progress, and efforts were made to reduce congestion and disruption in the area.

To support the local community, a portion of all materials and the workforce were procured locally. To protect the workforce when working at height, Easi-Edge supplied 830 LM of edge protection. Local apprentices were also given an opportunity to get involved with this project. As part of the supply chain delivery, joinery and electrical apprentices were also involved.

Abbey House will provide some more needed student accommodation in the city. The new building will also include communal areas as well as a gym, laundry room, multi-function rooms, and a separate reception area and staff kitchen. Members of accommodation staff are onsite 24 hours a day to support residents.
