Easi-Edge has been working with RG Carter on a primary school, recently named Cringleford Prep, near Norwich. The new two storey primary school, being built on land off Colney Lane on the edge of Norwich, will have capacity for 420 pupils.

RG Carter, worked with Norfolk County Council on the project for Cringleford, which is set to expand with around 1,300 new homes. Cringleford Prep will be the second primary school in the area to accommodate the growth of the village.

The design of the new primary school by NPS Group, and its layout, has been planned with the local area in mind. Sustainability and other elements of the design will reduce net carbon levels. The school will include external soft and hard outdoor play areas, car parking with electric charging spaces and solar panels. It will also have passive stack natural ventilation, air source heat pumps and an all-electric kitchen.

Cringleford Prep is one of 26 new schools proposed across Norfolk within the next 10 years. It is part of the county council’s £308m local growth and investment plan to ensure sufficient places are available in areas with planned housing growth. The County Council’s goal is to ensure that children across the county have access to a free school and the best possible start to their education.

Easi-Edge, supplied edge protection barriers to RG Carter during the construction phase of the primary school. As Cringleford Prep was nearing completion the principal of the school, along with representatives from the council, paid a visit to the site to tour the classrooms, hall and staff spaces. Once completed, the building will be given to Inspiration Trust, who are managing the school.
