A new state of the art office building is being built for credit management company, Lowell, at Thorpe Park in Leeds. Lowell has taken out a 15 year lease on the building which is 133,118 square feet. It is relocating its UK headquarters from two other buildings in Leeds Valley Park to this modern and purpose designed building which is more environmentally friendly.

The new seven-storey building, designed by Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher architects, will consist of seven floors with two levels of parking and amenities below. The structure of the building has a number of elements that will reduce its carbon footprint during the construction process. The steel fabricator on the project is Billington Structures and Easi-Edge will supply 2700 LM of edge protection barriers to the site.

The environmental elements in the construction includes the use of 75 per cent post-consumer recycled aluminium in the building’s envelope, up to 50 per cent reduction in the use of concrete for pile foundations and building slabs, and 25 per cent of the British Steel used in the structure is from recycled content.

The design also features aspects to promote health and wellbeing standards for the occupants. It is located adjacent to a landscaped courtyard, which will connected to adjacent developments in a largely pedestrianised area. It also has easy access to retail and leisure parks in the surrounding areas. The building is targetting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating for environmental performance.

There are further developments planned at Thorpe Park with a park, sports and wellbeing facilities for the community, and more mixed use projects. These and others will continue to grow what is already a well-established and strategic business location in the region.
