Time Square Warrington

Time Square Warrington is a new £142 million mixed use development project that will revitalise Warrington town centre. The goal of the project is to create a new family friendly area with shops, restaurants and leisure facilities, including a contemporary home for Warrington’s famous market.

This plan from Warrington Borough Council, to revitalise and regenerate a large portion of the town centre, consists of four steel-framed buildings, a leisure block accommodating retail and restaurants on the ground floor, and a 13 screen cinema complex. There is also a four storey council building and the new market hall.

During the construction phase of this enormous regeneration project Easi-Edge provided 5610 LM of edge protection barriers for the Time Square Warrington development. The steelwork contractor James Killelea erected 3,000 tonnes of steel for the project. The upper floors of the buildings have been formed compositely, with steel beams supporting metal decking and a concrete topping. The steel erection programme began with the leisure block before the rest of the structures were erected.

The leisure block has a complex steel design, with retail units on the ground floor with a columned approach, and a different layout for the upper level with the cinema. The 13 screens vary in size, adding to the complexity of the design, and each one also has to be acoustically isolated for the audience.

The Time Square Warrington development is being constructed in phases, with the leisure block being built first. Once groundwork has been concluded on the rest of the site, work can begin on the offices, market hall and retail block.
